Description
Antique 19th century French 18k yellow gold oval locket brooch pin. The front showcases a lovely openwork motif embellished with beaded border and an engraved textured ground. At the center is a square cushion cut natural ruby, of approximately .15 carats. Surrounded by four seed pearls. Opening to reveal a hinged glass door within, originally intended to hold a photo or lock of hair. The back with a pin and "C" catch fitting. Hallmarked with the French head of the eagle mark for 18K gold. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use, there are some small dimples to the right side edge as shown. Measures 1 1/4" x 1". Weighs 11.80 grams.
