Bavarian Military Service Order - Silver
The Military Merit Order medals were amongst Bavaria’s highest awards for bravery, and ranked only below the Military Order of Max Joseph.
These are the 4th class silver version which were awarded to captains and lieutenants. The swords denote wartime issue.
The medal features a blue enamelled cross with a central black and white enamelled medallion on a silver coloured metal background. On one side the medallion has a crowned ‘L’ cipher (for the founder King Ludwig II) and the word ‘Merenti’ and in the other the Bavarian Lion and founding year of 1866.
These are beautifully crafted medals with a high level of detail and come complete with the ribbon.
