Edo era, Japanese sword- Mumei Wakizashi blade with 2 piece habaki. The blade has a 15 1/8” Nagasa. This blade was purchased with a group of fittings &blades sometime ago. It was wrapped in an old cloth. The Nakago has two holes and it is unsigned with medium brown rust. Our guess is that it is a shinshinto era piece probably around 1800. There is one wari above the shinogi line which is clearly visible in the photographs. It also has a very tiny nail catcher nick that we show. This would make a great project blade for mounting. The hibachi is a very tight fit and needs to be very carefully removed using a bamboo Chapstick and mallet. See photos for full details. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Sale final.
