Gorgeous design from famed designer Pierre Sterle. This vintage brooch is crafted in 18k yellow gold. The brooch shows exquisite detail as it depicts a branch set with natural pearls and diamonds. The detail on the branch is phenomenal as the tree branch texture looks identical to real life bark. Seven natural pearls are set along the design, as if real life flowers are blossoming off the piece. Bezel set in each pearl is a natural round diamond cut true to the time period this brooch was created. The brooch measures approximately 2.25" and weighs 8.5 grams of solid 18k yellow gold. French jeweler famous for his 1940’s and 1950’s designs. In 1934, Pierre Sterlé opened a workshop on Rue St-Anne. In 1939, having established a loyal following, Sterlé began to produce pieces exclusively for individuals. Sterlé thought of himself as a highly exclusive designer and refused to occupy a ground-level location where he would have to display his jewels in window cases, open to public view. His pieces were thus produced for, and seen by, a select few. If jewelry historians are to be believed, his clients and fellow jewelers considered him “a revolutionary figure” because of his work’s originality and his technical expertise. His favorite motifs included birds, wings, feathers, animals, and flowers. His designs were executed in a baroque, asymmetrical style and were typically embellished with a combination of precious and semi-precious gemstones.
